I need advice on cutting a coped angle for crown molding. I am using a miter box and a coping saw.?

When I put the coped molding in place the point of the angle is to long. I am using a jig in the miter box to help hold the molding at the correct angle. Could some one please give me ideas on where I might make corrections?
I think my problem is not with the coping part. I can’t even get the coped angle into the joint to test the coping cut.

I think it is with the orginal angle cut. The angle on the coped moulding does not match the angle of the moulding I am trying to match to. The point is too long.

I cut the angle to a 45 degree angle like all the info on the internet indicated I should.

How to cut angles without a table saw?

Hi all – I came across plans for a stool that I want to build. To make the legs, it says "set you saw at a 5 degree angle and a 5 degree bevel." I don’t have a table saw, nor do I have a chop saw. Is there some sort of tool (miter box, whatever) that will allow me to do this with a hand saw?

Thanks!
